Long weekends are always welcome, a break from the mundanity of the Monday to Friday work pattern. The occasion marked, commemorated, is often lost in than annals of time for present generations, but the rest is approved magnanimously by all.
Humanity is not non necessarily incorrigibly lazy, but the odd extra day off or two is not to be sniffed at by a grateful populace.
