28th July 2020

In glorious isolation
I peruse the swarming ants upon a sunny day,
Over, under and adjacent to
A glassy surfaced lake, reflecting sun.

Some swim, some run, some eat, some sleep
In summer’s idylls, extra joy inserted,
I am untouched, remain outside the circle
Looking on, like eagle does at lamb.

Observation, contemplation, regurgitation
Fill each page with unsolicited rhyme,
Capturing sweaty feelings, or cool indifference
Dependent on the temperature and humidity.
