Solitary crane upon the foreshore
Not for you the warmer southern climes,
Always at the water’s edge to greet me
Studiously fishing to pass time.

Unrepentant strangers locked together
Betwixt the passing cars and rolling surf,
Momentary brothers in seclusion
Singular inhabitants of Earth.

We never dare to start a conversation
Words mean deadly danger for we two,
The sorcery that keeps us locked together
Would vanish in the moment that we do
