I am the rock
Bare and barren
Stripped of all feature
Ever open to the elements rage
Clambered over daily
Hewn to make others statues
Slowly worn away by endless friction
Yet still I remain eternally threatening.
Once I flowed
Spread myself endlessly
Grew in fiery magnificence
Destroyed cities and was universally feared
Now I am silent
My anger swallowed deep
Running in rivers hidden and concentrated
Melting away the core of my being.
One more eruption
A daily whispered prayer
To end in glorious destruction
Extinguishing all in a cacophony of sound
Cleansing in passing
Leaving naught but a telltale scar
To start afresh the cyclic journey
That makes legends of giants into reality.
